Approximately 700mcg of beta carotene and Vitamin A is required to ensure the formation of teeth and bones. This compound may be found in dairy products such as milk and eggs as well as in carrots and other yellow and green vegetables such as spinach, potatoes and broccoli. It can also be found in yellow fruits such as cantaloupe and pumpkin.
Vitamin D: 5 micrograms per kilogram of body weight for growth, as well as for the use of muscles and red blood cells. Sunlight, fatty fish, and milk are all good sources of vitamin D.
Vitamin E (15 mg) is required for the growth and use of muscles and red blood cells. Wheat germ, almonds, vegetable oil, spinach, and fortified cereals are all good sources of vitamin E.
The following amounts of vitamin C are recommended: 80 – 85 mg for functioning as an antioxidant, preventing tissue damage and iron absorption; and for promoting the development of a robust immune system. Bell peppers, citrus fruits, strawberries, green beans, potato, broccoli, papaya, and tomato are all high in vitamin C.
